#10 BUILD PAGE THREE.... ELECTRICAL 1 (prep) -- 22 MARCH, 2024

 WHAZAMMO & THE GILLIG

use the "Archives" link at the top left to get to #1

I dont have a "drive-over" pit to do a proper bottom-belly look-see of the Gillig low-floor, and it is so low taking the iPhone under is useless, but, here is the rest of my inspection-review, and some second thoughts, from last weekend:

The super-wide 8' 6"  exterior width and the entire low floor design bragging points vaporize when you look at "building"... those massive front wheel enclosures eat up very useable and critical floor-storage space (scrambling layout design), and the angular deck-to-sidewall transitions (full length) make for a narrow 7' 2" useable flat floor width and 4" stand-off" problems for wall-hugging stove, reefer, cabinetry, etc; ... in short, you lose 8" to this floor gusset.

Furthering the negatives are the yet-to-be-investigated removal of the extendable wheelchair ramp and kneeling attributes (which promises to be interesting), how-what to do about sidewall/overhead insulation (if anything), your non-destructive rivet removal skills (or lack of them) rounds out the negatives list.

I am rethinking the toilet issue, and spending $3,000 dollars for an Incinolet Vs. buying a disinfection shit-handlers shower unit and clothing (HAZMAT) for $2,000 and going back to a $300.00 Dometic 320 RV toilet unit and hacking it in... somehow,  (possibly ?) since I am such a cheapskate, we will revisit that ugliness as well.

                                                                         XXXXXXXX

The full-length floor-deck to sidewall gusset looks like this, and extends into the floor 3" per side (consuming 6" of floor use).   Accommodations/modifications to any wall-hugging install (reefer, stove,)  must be considered.  under the bus, this curvature is visible full length, the "L" shaped support bracket shown is every36", but does have a hole through it... see photo:

Armed with a 3" PVC pipe stub, I relook at "how" to exit the toilet ... Plasticman or Rubberman could do it... (don't know who Plasticman or Rubberman was ?), I can do this... so I order in the Dometic.

Stumbled into a kitchen overhead cabinate set, see photo, we will detail the "how" this will work in a future post.

Now have the dishwasher, wood stove, bathroom sink, display shelving, toilet,  the vinyl and subfloor are ordered, we just bought a house full of cabinets (to hack up/modify), and are looking for the shower stall, galley sink, stove, reefer, and new mattresses.

We have now emptied the boat of all but our "personal" belongings (prepping to sell), , the kitties, and food ... everything is now being migrated to the van or bus, making showing the boat when we go up for sale a lot easier, but, working "out" of the van and "on" the bus a little more difficult... it is like living in three places.

As part of this bringing aboard premature "stuff", and looking at installing the cabinetry, the VERY LAST tear out is the huge  black brain-box of TV, AUDIO, MESSAGE BOARD, computer interface behind the drivers compartment ... a gazillion wires and devices !  a simple job, right ?

If there is any future hope of activating the message board, cameras, wifi and ??all of these components, devices, and wires must be kept uncut and intact, it looks like they can be stored out of the galley area in a housing behind the driver.

FUN WITH WIRES

The "box" full of control wiring and module boxes for cameras, marquis displays, wifi, speaker/PA system, and all door controls and alarms

wires detached from shelves and loose
finally an empty box !

wires out of box

Finally... an empty cabinate - unbelievable....

LOOK MA'... NO WIRES BEHIND DRIVERS SEAT !

LOOK MA'... WIRES !!                                                                                                                               moved through bulkhead to fit Galley cabinets in
