1937 HUNT HOUSE CAR-- The Hunt house car from 1937 used a 1937 Ford truck chassis. J. Roy Hunt was able to use aircraft engineering to build the streamlined body you see in the photos. He had a auto-body shop help him with the fabrication. Hunt built almost 50 of them over the next decade, making it one of the rarest production motorhomes in existence and considered by many to be the first with a working shower. It also featured a disappearing toilet that folds into the wall so the shower has additional space

When you drive a yellow Camry, suddenly, you "see" every yellow Camry ever built driving around,  EBAY ruined the world, took away all that was unique, showed us just how common "everything" is, no more "one of a kind", unique, or "special" anything.

Eventually, we began to realize just how "unspecial" we are, I guess we never really noticed how every house on the block was just like the one next door, how many red Chevy SS Camaro's were in town, or how many millions of McDonald's burgers were sold (remember those signs ?), which is why our neighbor used spray his cat pink.

In our bus, boat, house truck, RV, world, two camps evolved the "paint it navy grey" and the psychedelic neon "I am a gifted artist" believers (that matured into 250 thousand dollar Prevost Road Coaches with those disgusting swirly earth-toned graphics).  Next up was/is the Camo Paint job, or the blanco "prison bus" - "illegal immigrant government transport" bus look.

America has 5 cultures, they overlap somewhat, but what "works" in one may be a red flag in another... I am not saying people are bigots ("a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people based on their membership of a particular group"), Iknow I am not (ahem), but it is a consideration, and one that begins waaay back when you enter the "Alice in Wonderland" large meadow filled with springtime flowers as far as the eye can see", to pick out your candidate for building your "home".

We of course, build what is available, and want to be unique, but, there are stigmas and bigotry to contend with at police departments, highway patrol state policemen, store parking lots, RV parks (state and private), residents, and city councils in "five" culture areas to contend with... just sayin'

If you ever parked a car with the "Steelers" stickers all over it in Cleveland, or a Vikings car in Green Bay country, you know what to expect when you return... making messaging (even subtle), as something to think about. I happen to be conservative, but many in my Oregon/Santa Cruz club enjoy their VW van mounted on the roof schoolie, their all wood two-story house truck, or calling an Airstream reshaped as a black coffin home.

As you travel through these five cultures, the very definition of "home" changes in the rulebooks, with the glut of truly "homeless" (in my world meaning not owning or renting/buying a place to return to eat, sleep, relax), one might think the restrictions and condemnation of RV types would have lessened, it has instead gone the other way....when the government, or an NGO "gives" you nightly 1/4's, feeds you, and cell phone, clothes, and showers you... you"are not" homeless, (you have a brick-and-mortar physical address at the shelter.

On a boat, in an RV you are mobile, no taxable brick-and-mortar physical address... in many counties, and states you cannot vote, do banking, renew anything at DMV, qualify for food stamps or other assistance, on and on...  "you" are homeless, but because your vessel/vehicle has value... you are "not" homeless, I don't know where that puts you, but welcome to the club. BOAT/RV = "UNCONVENTIONAL DWELLING" - POST # 41 (8 OCT 2016)

We just had our Lane County Oregon Voters Registrations returned to us as "INVALIDATED" because we changed our address on our Driver Licenses from the brick-and-mortar "house" we just sold, to M/V So fea's mailing "drop box" address on Highway 101, which is unrecognized and dis-allowed by law as valid. (the new use of computers auto-rejects any address not on the USPS delivered routes), this mailing service receives two USPD deliveries per day, my using that address (as Box #212) makes it a c/o  and illegal).

The harbor, and RV park, are very explicit that they do not want to receive "your" mail . . . "Do not use the Harbor/RV address as your residence or business address, or for USPS, UPS, FED-EX, or other mail."  And, you can understand why . . . envision touring/cruising boats and RV's from around the world stopping in for a week, then to never-and why . . . ever return whilst the mail to them just keeps coming to the harbor office.

Cruisers and world travelers have always use drop box services, they hold, then forward your mail to any port-of-call you visit when the next drop box requests it, they assure contact, legal serving, and package receiving.

St Brendans Isle, UPS Mail stores, and many more forwarding companies serve the military, boat cruisers, world travelers, construction workers and consultants, military, merchant and fishing sailors by screening and forwarding their mail (their mail scan pro services instantly open and email you all important mail and scrap the rest), and the addresses become the legal entity that establishes or retains your citizenship, nationality and residency at home in the USA, while you are out-of-country..

So, I had to think about "how" a wealthy, elitist, conforming American politician would think.... and what do the homeless do ? what do movie-rock stars do?  remember, voting registration is a matter of public record,  BUT, you "can" be a homeless voter, or a person who wishes for confidentiality, or what they call a non-conforming residence voter.      "{a non-conforming resident}". . . read my earlier posts.

"Voters must provide a residence address and have a mailing address on the voter registration form, but this address may be any definable location in the county that describes their physical location. This could be a shelter, park, motor home, bridge, boat, or other identifiable location. The mailing address of a person who is homeless or who resides where mail service is unavailable can be the office of the county clerk or, a voter can register and vote while maintaining their privacy. To maintain privacy, complete an exemption form: ie;  "Application to Exempt Residence Address from Disclosure", or, Application to be a non-conforming Resident".

If you live on a boat, in an RV, your car, tent, refrigerator shipping box, or in an alley you are a non-conforming resident, however,  people in prison, on parole and on probation cannot vote, nor can people with felony convictions until completion of their sentence.

So, like when you register your gun, file for a social security number, a drivers license, a non-conforming residency, or non-public disclosure with Uncle Sam, you go on a list, and  join a file folder of others like you.... gun carry permits, pilot's license, USCG registered Boat Captain, drivers license,
Passport, they all put you on a Homeland Security List.

INSURANCE - POST # 34 (6 OCT 2016)

Applying for either RV/boat insurance, or a boat loan, RV, or RV loan, you are asked all sorts of questions about “your” personal qualifications to own, pay for, and operate your boat/RV . . . assuming you own a under 100 foot, uninspected, non-charter pleasure craft, or a under 41 foot RV of some sort you get the feeling the questions are being asked by a US Marshal, or a court judge.

Where I began to chuckle each application, was their repeated interest in "how many" . . . boats/RV's you have owned, how "big" they were, how long you owned them for, and how many boats/RV's you have operated. These are asked in a “we will disqualify you for the wrong answer” manner, but are obviously needed (in some way) to assess whether they should loan you money or insure your boat..

Part-time, or newby boaters might not think a thing about this type of question, but, I took offense.

Lets rephrase the questions to fit the general public:

Question: Have you ever owned, tried on, or worn a pair of shoes ? if so, please tell us how many shoes you have worn, what size they were, what type and color they were, what material they were constructed of, for how long you owned each pair, why you bought them, and where you went with each pair.

Did you ever damage or lose a pair of shoes (like scuff them, break a heel, or snap a shoe string) ?, from whom did you buy each pair (be specific = store, salesman name, date, cost, method of payment)? and, where did you store each pair when not wearing them ?  (be specific, you will need to confirm, verify and document each pair's history).

Is this a quiz ? is it an Alzheimer’s test ? I hope you kept a “Shoe Logbook” of your lifetime shoe purchases, and can remember the wearing, use and etc: (doesn’t everyone keep notes on where you wore what ?) . . .  do I include “booties” (before I wore shoes ?) what if I forget a pair ? do I need sales receipts or photos for each pair ?  do shower thongs count as shoes ? will the shoe police get me?

Totally stupid, and having no bearing on my ability to "pay back" a loan, or, how safe a boater or driver I am for insurability (especially if I "owned" the vehicle-boats outright, and possibly had "no" insurance on them at all.

Entering the world (realm, or dimension) of non-conventional is as challenging as having the skills to build your non-conventional bus, boat, yurt, or ? lots of envy, stereotyping, money grubbing, and politics.
There will be more added to this post .... so check back !
